Is Halle Bailey pregnant? Is love really blind? And will Atlanta restaurants survive Keith Lee online?
Sunday's Shade.
Whew! The news cycles are never ending and chaos is all around us. So let’s get into some mess.
Paparazzi photos surfaced of noticeably pregnant singer/songwriter, Halle Bailey, out and about with rapper boyfriend, DDG. After months of pregnancy rumors, fans now have an alleged confirmation and they are not happy. Myself included. Much of the discourse focused on the Disney star’s young age and how a baby would halt her career. Frankly, a lot of people were projecting their problems onto Halle. The focus here shouldn’t be on her, rather it should be on that man of hers.
A few months ago, DDG released a song with some questionable lyrics called Famous. He likely intended to express his vulnerable emotions about his relationship, but it came off like a diss track towards his girlfriend. Read an excerpt below.
This man threatened to destroy Halle’s career simply because he couldn’t handle his insecurities. And Friend, THAT is a dangerous man to have any permanent ties with. These lyrics convey DDG as a manipulative partner with the sole fear of bruising his ego. I wish that man would keep his dirty laundry in the drafts. I also wish Halle a healthy pregnancy and safe delivery (if she is expecting).
Speaking of love, what the hell is going on, between the Netflix sheets, in the Love is Blind (LIB) home? There is an active lawsuit brought on by season 5 contestant, Trang Dang, against the producers of LIB with allegations of sexual assault and false imprisonment. Hence, the three engaged couples shown this year instead of four to six pairs.
As an avid watcher of the show, I could tell something was off this season. We had no clips from the bachelor/bachelorette parties, two singles were ex lovers outside of the show, and there were so many random clips of food spreads. Things felt amiss. Even the chosen couples didn’t appear believably in love. As a viewer, I’m guessing whether they even like each other.
It may be time for Netflix to end this show, especially with the back-to-back lawsuits from contestants. I enjoy reality television like any nosey bystander yet, drama with morals is more palatable than that without. However, if LIB continues, I cast my vote for Lauren Speed and Cameron Hamilton to take over hosting and producing. They were the original superstar couple of the first season, back when LIB felt like a genuine love experiment.
This week in Black Twitter
Food critic extraordinaire, Keith Lee, is disrupting the entire Atlanta food scene. Keith provides engaging ratings about popular and unknown restaurants via his TikTok page. Lately, he is seen on the road stopping in various major cities to review popular spots and this week he is making headlines in Atlanta (ATL).
If you never experienced dinning in an ATL restaurant, here are the top three nearly guaranteed factors you’re missing out on:
Horrible customer service. You’ll be grateful that someone even checks on your water refills.
Ridiculous rules. I mean full on dress codes like we’re in elementary school. Not to mention, timed seating for you to eat.
Random fees. Friend, you’ll be paying extra for something as simple as a ketchup packet and don’t get me started on added gratuity.
That said, Keith talks about his experience at Milk & Honey below.

In the video, Keith discusses the poor customer service his family faced leading to a food review without food. Meaning no harm, he states that he, “does not support, condone, or agree with tearing down these businesses.” Keith continues to highlight that his experience may not be someone else’s. Though in reality, plenty of customers do share this similar encounter.
Milk & Honey restaurant responded via their TikTok page on a post and delete, practically dissing Keith Lee as if they never heard of him. Which is so, asinine. Instead of offering an apology calling for changed behavior, they mock a paying customer who was looking forward to eating at their establishment. The grass-walled-self-proclaimed-food-joint added salt to their own injury. JUST SILLY! And the food is mid anyway.
Speaking of ATL, Summer Walker released a five-track EP with a few re-remixes of her 2018 hit single, Girl’s Need Love. Yes, the original came out two years pre-COVID, it’s okay to feel shocked. The Girls Mix EP contains Summer’s acoustic version along with features from singers Victoria Monet, Tyla, and Tink. The acoustic version? Flawless, amazing, roses roses roses. The tracks with features? Caca, overproduced, tomato tomato tomato.
Three things I’m loving lately:
In the spirit of freeing myself from perfectionism, I have taken up the hobby of drawing. Am I any good? Not at all. But it feels good to do.
A refreshing podcast episode by Ologies with Alie Ward titled Witchology (Witches and Witchcraft).
Movie trailers that piqued my interest: the hilarious American Fiction, dramatic The Iron Claw, and intriguing Leave the World Behind.
Should I text him first?
